After starting out as hairstylists, Maria and Rosy Carita ended up reinventing women from head to toe. Two pioneering women who expressed their professional expertise through products for the face, body and hair –that's Global Beauty.
CARITA is an expert in anti-ageing products, with their excellence based upon a tradition of commitments to scientific innovation. These innovations allow us to offer skincare products that closely target problems caused by the ageing process and help preserve your beauty over time. To accompany you in your daily routine, grant you the benefits of exceptional, luxurious care lines, combining scientific performance and exaltation of the senses.
A creativity and audacity that would lead them to collaborate with the young avant-garde fashion designers of the age, the future top names in French Haute Couture: Courrèges, Ungaro, Cardin, Givenchy and others. For each designer, they were able to create hairstyles and makeup in harmony with the clothes that they produced and the women who wore them. All this was showcased in the extremely personal universes of photographers such as Knapp, Harry Meerson and Sara Moon at the beginning of their career.
The public at large would discover them through the program DIM DAM DOM, a cult fashion and beauty program, in which they created hairstyles and make-up for models during shoots. The profession of Studio Stylist and Makeup Artist was born - under the name of CARITA. Their fame spread across the globe. Their know-how seduced all of the crowned heads and their imagination drew those in the limelight constantly on the hunt for something new.
They dreamt up Global Beauty 60 years before people began to talk about it, starting with a woman's hairstyle to give her a complete makeover. "Don't forget that beneath the hair, there is a face and eyes…". A beautiful woman is a woman at peace with herself. Her beauty is seen in the radiance of her skin, the harmony of her silhouette and shiny, healthy hair…The Carita sisters globalised the world of beauty by creating treatments for the face, body and hair.
In 1956, they created Fluide de Beauté 14, a nourishing oil for the hair, face and body. The product would become legendary and remains one of the brand's symbolic products to this day.
These creators of beauty, "entrepreneurs of transformation" as they liked to describe themselves, would continue their business until the death of Maria in 1978. On Rosy's death in 1983, the post of Artistic Director would be given to Christophe Carita, their nephew, long groomed to become the worthy successor of his aunts. He would give a renewed burst of life to CARITA and gain the loyalty of a new generation of women.
All the major names that count in the world of contemporary beauty have come from the CARITA "school": Mr Alexandre, Thibault Vabre, Terry, Charlie, Patrick Alès, Jean-Louis David, Jean-Marc Maniatis, to name but a few.
The CARITA spirit carries on. It still resonates in the House of Beauty on Faubourg Saint Honoré and in all of the Houses of Beauty in France and abroad.
